The LS-1000 was one of two of Lima-Hamilton's initial offerings, though, it wasn't long before the unit was uprated to 1200hp and the LS-1000 was removed from the catalogue. Hailed as reliable and not susceptible to engine failures of other builders, the units attained a reputation for being a Cadillac of the locomotive world. However, small market share and an untimely demise (both of Lima and the LS-1000's presence in-catalogue) led to a measly 38 built, of which two survive.
