GP70 - MagnumMacKivler/RLCPT2 GitHub Wiki

The GP70 was a proposed locomotive that was offered by Electro-Motive around the early 1990s. Railroads, soon realizing they no longer needed high horsepower 4 axle locomotives, strayed away from any purchases of GP70s, and opted for higher traction 6 axle locomotives instead.

Because the GP70 was never made, data for this locomotive has been compiled from information from the related SD70 and GP60 types.

###Notes: ⚠: Not verified or educated guess

(1): Late SD70s were rated at 4300 horsepower; it is unsure if the GP70 would have had this change as well

(2): Later units would have likely had automatic starters.
