A GP39 The GP39 was an uncommon road switcher offered by EMD. Sporting a turbocharged V12 version of the venerable 645E3, the GP39 clocked in at 2300 Horsepower, putting it between the GP38 and the GP40. While its successor, the GP39-2, performed much better in the market, the humble GP39 sold only 23 units total, 20 of which went to the Chesapeake and Ohio.
