The F18 was a proposed, non-turbocharged locomotive that was cataloged by EMD. Based off of the GP18 hood unit, the F18 offered the streamlined body look of the F series locomotives (such as the F9) with upgraded locomotive components. A turbocharged F20 (Based on the GP20) was also offered.

Most railroads by the late 1960s had drawn away from passenger service, which likely would have been the only use for the hard-to-see-around F units. Specifications would likely be the same as the GP18 locomotive, except for the carbody, and are listed below.
