The C630 was first introduced in mid-1965 alongside the C430 as Alco's first alternator equipped units. Boasting a shocking (for the time) 3000 horsepower for traction, the C630 and C430 were monster locomotives in their first few months of production, having no real competitors until EMD and GE unveiled the 40 Series and U30 Series locomotives, respectively.

⚠: Not Verified or Educated Guess

(1): Late production C630s could be bought with Alco or Dofasco's three-axle Hi-Ad, boosting the adhesion to 29%.

(2): Later in production the gearing options changed, making the base speed 70 MPH and the max speeds 70, 75, or 79, 84, or 93 MPH
