The C430 was first introduced in mid-1965 alongside the C630 as Alco's first alternator equipped units. Boasting a shocking (for the time) 3000 horsepower for traction, the C430 and C630 were monster locomotives in their first few months of production, having no real competitors whatsoever.

Notes

⚠: Not Verified or Educated Guess

(1): Pre-production(none built) and Reading units rode on AAR Type Bs, lowering the adhesion to 25%.

(2): Later in production the gearing options changed, making the base speed 70 MPH and the max speeds 75, or 79, 84, or 93 MPH
