AGEIR 100 ton Boxcab - MagnumMacKivler/RLCPT2 GitHub Wiki

The 100 ton version of the AGEIR boxcab featured two of the IR engines, operating as independent power sets. Engines were started by means of a gasoline-driven air compressor which charged starting air tanks. While two gearings were offered, road use was generally impractical for even the higher horsepower boxcabs; maximum speed was initially 30mph, with some sources stating a maximum of 45mph. Not exactly zippy, yet the revolutionary concept of batch-production diesel locomotives is intensely respectable in it's own right, and as far as first generation diesels were concerned the boxcabs were a solid concept; many lasted several decades in revenue switching service. Of the 100 ton model, however, no survivors exist.
