Installation - MX-Futhark/hook-any-text GitHub Wiki
Please be mindful that the installation of Hook Any Text (HAT) is not user friendly at the time of writing and you'll need some technical knowledge of your system in order to install it. If you know what you're doing, you may skim or skip over the installing dependencies section.
Dependencies:
- Cheat Engine (version 6.7+ is recommended for HAT 0.9.0+)
- Java (version 7+)
- At the time of writing OpenJDK 10 works as well.
Installing Dependencies
If you have not already done so, please install CE and Java on your system. Also confirm that the Java bin installation directory has been added to your PATH environment variable. To test this, open up the command prompt and run the command java --version. If it returns the correct version number and brand, you should be good.
To modify/verify the PATH variable: Win+R > Run the command sysdm.cpl to bring up the System Properties > Advanced Tab > Environment Variables... > System Variables > PATH. There should be something like "C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\bin" in the value section. (Please keep in mind that the value string might be too long to fully display so please copy out the value or use arrow keys to try and find it if you are having problems.)
Installing HAT
Once the dependencies are resolved, extract the archive containing HAT and place the contents in the autorun directory of the Cheat Engine's installation directory. (e.g "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cheat Engine X.X\autorun")
Running HAT
Then load up CE and the HAT window should pop-up.
