You can register for MCT courses following the generic UiO guidelines. In this page you find more details about the process.

There are few registration tasks you have to do:

1. Pay the semester fee
2. Sign up for the correct courses in Studentweb
3. Get a physical student card (only first semester)

All students who attend university in Norway must pay a semester fee at the beginning of each semester, regardless of how many ECTS credits they sign up for. Payment deadlines are:

• Autumn semester: September 1st.
• Spring semester: February 1st.

To pay the semester fee you have to create an invoice in Studentweb.

You can create an invoice starting from December/June for current students and from early August for new master's students.

After you have paid the semester fee you can start registering for MCT courses. The programme structure is as follows:

Course registration deadlines:

• Autumn semester: September 1st.
• Spring semester: February 1st.

After the first semester, your MCT educational plan should be located in a "study programme" under the "studies" section in your Studentweb pages. However, you still need to register for each course every semester after paying the semester fee, as discussed above.

When you have completed your registration you will be automatically added to Canvas (UiO's learning management system) after approximately one day. If this does not occur, please contact us. If you register for courses several weeks before the beginning of the semester, you may not see or not have access to the Canvas sites of your courses, simply because the course coordinator has not yet published the course. During your first semester you should get a physical UiO student card, which is essential to access building (outside regular opening hours) and special rooms. After obtaining the physical card, send a picture of the back of the card to the MCT Student Consultant [email protected], requesting to enable access to special rooms used by MCT students at the Department of Musicology ( (i.e. MCT Portal, Video Room, Electrolab).
