Warfare Markers - MCDMFG/KingdomsAndWarfare GitHub Wiki

In order to take advantage of advanced battlemap features like automatically collapsing ranks and tracking which units are exposed you will need to utilize warfare markers: special tokens that you place on maps to demarcate which ranks are which.

You can access the warfare tokens menu by clicking the castle icon in the top-right of the screen.

By default the tokens are set to generic letters (a-d, w-z, and o), but you can drop any token you want to use to replace the defaults.

Placing Markers

Once you have set your warfare markers, you then drag those tokens onto your battlemap to mark your ranks. By default the rank markers need to be placed directly to the right of the battlefield.

Using Maps With Different Sizes and Orientations

The extension supports maps of all shapes and sizes. If your map is oriented so that the ranks are vertical columns, and files are horizontal rows, the extension can handle that. In the toolbar there is a new warfare markers button. When selected, two new options will appear on the toolbar. From right to left, these options are:

  • Rank marker position selector
  • Number of files on the battlefield

Selecting the Rank Marker Position icon will cycle it through the four options:

  • Ranks markers are to the right of the battlefield
  • Ranks markers are to the left of the battlefield
  • Ranks markers are above the battlefield
  • Ranks markers are below the battlefield

Units Off the Battlefield

The system only tracks rows with rank marker tokens, and only for a certain number of files (set in the image toolbar), and only in the direction denoted by the rank marker position icon. This means that units off the battlefield are not tracked for automatic rank collapsing.
