The thruster guards are 3D printed with PLA filament and further post-processed to remove the support stands from the 3D printed components. To further strengthen the 3D printed plastic guards, a layer of epoxy resin is applied to the surface of the guards. This serves as an additional waterproof layer as the thruster guards would be submerged underwater along with the BlueROV2 and hence, this layer of protection would extend the longevity of the thruster guards before replacement guards would be required in the future.
