The Extrude Tool allows you to "draw out" polygons of your 3D object, creating new geometry.

You may need to switch into Edit mode to select and extrude single polygons.

With the Extrude tool active, press and drag the trigger button on the spherical knobs of the manipulator to draw out the selected polygon.
