HUD Analysis

The HUD of the game is always shown in the top part of the screen and in order to explain it, we will divide it and talk about each section.

01Prologue

Image Explanation
Score This number shows the score the player has obtained, in this case, killing enemies give different amount of score points that will be reflected in this part of the screen.
Stage This number shows which of the eighteen stages the game has the player is in currently
Heart number This number shows the number of hearts the player has obtained throughout the game by either defeating monsters, destroying candles or killing the old crane. The number will reset back each time the player dies but has enough hearts to revive.
Player number This number shows the lifes current player has if it misses. When this number reaches 00 and the player missies, the game will reset entirely, if it has any other number, it will reset the level.
Player life This bar shows the current player's life. It decreases with each player miss and when it reaches an end, the player will die, meaning a game over or a level reset depending on the current heart number
Enemy life This bar shows the life of the boss you are fighting. When you are not on a bossfight it stays at full health
Current Object This red frame will hold inside whatever weapon we are using. That includes the chain, the axe, the knife and the cross. When this slot is empty it means we are using the "Vampire Killer", Simon's inhereted whip
Key Holder This two-spaced white frame will show on the right slot a yellow key (we can only hold one at a time) and on the left one a white key if we have one of them
Power up Holder This five slots will show the power-ups we get and they will show staticly if they are wearabe objects such as shields or only appear for a few seconds if they are hearts or one use only.
