5.1 JUSTIFICATION FOR SCORE GIVEN

Design No Objective Score Alloted Justification of the score
1 a Safety +8 The machine does not contain any harmful components.
b Portability +4 The machine is portable.
c Cost effective +14 The machine does not include any expensive components and is hence cost effective.
d User-friendly +5 The machine is simple to use.
e Use of standard parts -3 The parts of the machine are not so simple.
f Semi-automatic 0 The machine does not involve much of manual input.
2 a Safety +8 The machine does not include any sharp components like blades to crush the cups and hence it is safe to use.
b Portability +4 The machine is portable.
c Cost effective +14 The machine does not include any expensive components and is hence cost effective.
d User-friendly +10 The cups are taken to the crusher due to gravity and does not include any complex mechanism and hence it is easy to use.
e Use of standard parts +3 The parts of the machine are easy to use and simple.
f Semi-automatic 0 The machine does not involve much of manual input.
3 a Safety 0 The machine is not safe to use as there is manual input present which may cause harm.
b Portability +8 The machine is easily portable.
c Cost effective +7 It does not include any expensive components and is cost effective.
d User-friendly -5 The machine isn't easy to use as a person has to always keep track of cups going into machine whereas, as forthcoming engineers we need to reduce human work.
e Use of standard parts +6 It does not include any expensive components and is cost effective.
f Semi-automatic -8 The machine involves a lot of manual input.
4 a Safety Datum -
b Portability Datum -
c Cost effective Datum -

5.5 INTERACTION BETWEEN SUBSYSTEMS

5.5.1 INTERACTION DETAILS

SL.NO Interaction Details
1 Spatial Interaction Spatial interaction is a basic concept that considers how locations interact with each other.
2 Data Interaction Data interaction exists as the machine involves sensing of cups and reading of cups.
3 Material Interaction Material interaction exists between the sub systems as the paper cups are moved from Collecting Cup Unit to Crushing Cup Unit for crushing of paper cups and the crushed cups are moved to the Disposal Unit .
