Mobs - Lyinginbedmon/TricksyFoxes GitHub Wiki

Tricksy mobs are created by enlightening mundane vanilla mobs and apprenticing them with a Sage Hat. The feature that most significantly distinguishes them from other mobs is their possession of an internal behaviour tree and personal whiteboard, which their sage can modify as necessary to educate them on how to perform almost any conceivable task.

Tricksy mobs can also be distinguished from one another by the colour of their clothing, which can be changed using any dye and reset using a wet sponge (the sponge is not consumed). This is purely cosmetic and does not affect their behaviour.

Tricksy Foxes

A pair of Tricksy Foxes Tricksy Foxes (the original mob for which the mod is named) are an enlightened form of the wild fox, distinguished by their bipedal stance, twin tails, and religious attire. They are devout and loyal, dutifully following the instructed behaviours of their sage. As the smallest and fastest of the Tricksy mobs, they are well suited to automation tasks that may necessitate tight spaces.

Tricksy Goats

A pair of Tricksy Goats Tricksy Goats are the enlightened form of the mountain-climbing goat, distinguished by their bipedal stance, buff woolly physique, and monastic garb. Though slower and much larger than Tricksy Foxes, they are more than capable of throwing their weight around when called upon by their sage to do so.

Tricksy Wolves

A Tricksy Wolf Tricksy Wolves are the enlightened form of the forest-dwelling wolf, plainly identifiable by their Benedictine robes. Not as durable as Tricksy Goats nor as fast as Tricksy Foxes, Tricksy Wolves focus on support and community, either by healing nearby mobs or alerting others miles away with their howling.

Onryoji

The Onryoji is a boss mob, the vengeful spirit of a master Tricksy Fox, slain when struck by lightning whilst suffering from Wither. They flit about the living world exacting their revenge with a diverse variety of mystical spells. In specific, the Onryoji has the following special attacks:

  • Divine Balance - Swaps the health totals of two nearby mobs, healing one and damaging the other according to the difference in their current health
  • Masked Foxfire - Shoots 3 projectiles made of weaponised foxfire, which deal 50/50 fire damage and unavoidable divine damage, either on direct impact with an entity or after a short fuse period after impacting a block
  • Sealing Ofuda - Shoots up to 4 ofuda projectiles at nearby creatures. The ofuda bind to the first creature they pass through, then drag them towards wherever they ultimately land. As they also afflict the creature with Weakness and Poison, their intent is to distract their victim as well as make them an easy target for the Onryoji's foxfire
  • Zone of Seclusion - Creates a temporary field around the Onryoji which heals them over time whilst repelling all creatures and projectiles. However, should you manage to somehow damage the boss, it will interrupt the effect and similarly destroy the zone.
  • Twelve Heavenly Commanders - The ultimate ability of the Onryoji is a form of mystical countdown clock. This ability creates a sigil that orbits the user, up to a total of 12 unique icons. After the 12th casting, players nearby are randomly teleported to positions up to a kilometre away. This prevents players from spending too much time hiding from its attacks as well as from re-engaging the boss from an opportune respawn position when killed, as well as buying the boss time to heal itself with its Zone of Seclusion while players endeavour to return to the arena.

Should players manage to defeat the Onryoji, it drops an amount of Phantom Membrane, a few of its Sealing Ofuda items, and 1-3 Tokens of Mastery
