Enlightenment (noun):

• the action of enlightening or the state of being enlightened.

Enlightenment is the process by which a nascent tricksy mob (such as a conventional Minecraft fox) becomes its Tricksy counterpart (ie. a Tricksy Fox). This process begins with giving the mob a Periapt O' Prescience, which is visible on their person.

After this initial step, the mob is open to new experiences to expand their worldview and understanding. The events that contribute to this understanding are called "accomplishments", of which there are many. By default, foxes become enlightened after accomplishing a visit to the Nether and Overworld, but this can be changed using datapacks.

Once the mob has accrued the necessary accomplishments, it will receive the Regeneration status effect and, after 15 seconds, will be converted to its Apprentice-rank enlightened Tricksy form (usually in a state of some confusion and/or panic, but not to worry this is quite normal). They can then be apprenticed using a Sage Hat.

Additionally, mobs may have access to an additional stage of enlightenment: Mastery. After attaining Apprentice rank, and a configurable selection of additional accomplishments, this grants the mob visual distinctiveness as well as the ability to receive orders via a Sage Fan and an additional behaviour tree for each potential order they might receive.

Accomplishments

There are many possible steps on the road to enlightenment, they can differ considerably in challenge, and not all of them are necessary in its pursuit. The exact means by which a nascent mob becomes enlightened differs between different mob types and can be altered using datapacks.

• Archaeologist - Enter the area of a trail ruin
• Cloudseeker - Reach the highest point of the Overworld
• Death-Defier - Be present when the Wither is defeated
• Dimensional Travel - Visit any dimension via a portal
• Eyes Unclouded - Experience the Blindness effect
• Firetouched - Survive being reduced to a single heart by fire damage without the use of Fire Resistance effects
• Give a man a fish... - Hold a fish
• Inconceivable - Unobtainable without the use of commands
• Jailbird - Enter an Ancient City
• Journeyman - Travel at least 100 chunks in a single trip via the Nether
• Outlaw - Be present when the Warden is defeated
• Outside The Box - Stand atop the Nether ceiling
• Scholar of the Forgotten - Enter a Stronghold
• Squire - Be present when the Ender Dragon is defeated
• Visit the Overworld/Nether/End - Visit the corresponding specific dimension

Note: existing in a dimension when first given a periapt does not qualify as visiting that dimension

• Waterborne - Survive being reduced to a single heart by drowning without the use of Water Breathing effects
