Energy

Immersive Engineering (IE) uses several energy types:

  • Electricity
  • Redstone (further investigation required)

(fluids maybe, needs to be investigated)

Electricity

Introduction

Electricity in IE is known as Immersive Flux (IF, IF/t, f/t or Flux/t) - note that on certain documentations, you will witness RF/t or similar units, those reffers to the same energy type. It is transported via Electric Cables which comes in three tiers, each having a maximum energy per tick. Cables can be attached to Connectors, relays & transformers. Connectors are used to transmit energy to an electrical device & sources, while relays are used to transport energy between connectors or Transformers. "Voltage" Transformers are used to upgrade or downgrade cable tiers and "Current" Transformer is used as an energy meter (note the misleading naming).

For convinience, "Electrical probe" will refer to Connectors, Relays and Trasformers.

Possible Electrical Probe connections

there ar multiple connection possibles, what i call "Probe to Probe" connections - connection between Electrical probes - and "Probe 2 Machine" Connections - which there is only one possible to my knowledge.

Probe to Probe relations:

  • Connectors can be connected to only 1 Electrical probe.
  • Relays can be connected to virtualy an infinite amount of electrical probes.
  • Transformers (both voltage transformers & current transformer) can be connected to 2 electrical probes (1 on each sides).

Probe to Machine Relations:

  • a Connector must be placed on the Electrical Input of the device as shown below: (insert image later)

It must be a connector sincer relays can't give energy to an electrical device.

Electrical Cables & Tiers

There are Three tiers of Electrical cables:

  • Low Voltage (LV)
  • Mid Voltage (MV)
  • High Voltage (HV)

To connect probes, take a Wire Coil and connect by right clicking the electrical probes. Note that cables are "Tier-Locked" meaning that cables & probes cannot be connected to a different tier of cables and probes - except for the Current Transformer which accepts any tier cable as long as the input AND the output are from the same tier.

When an entity collides with an unprotected wire, the amount of power contained in the cable deals a related amount of damage. for players, it can be avoided by wearing a Faraday Armor or by using coated wires - which are available only for LV & MV Wires.

Following is the maximum energy amount per tick for each cable tiers:

Tier Flux / tick
LV 2048 f/t
MV 8192 f/t
HV 32768 f/t

When Cables reach critical limit, it burns down. It appears that when an Entity collides with an unprotected wire, the wire it self can get damaged.
