Step 1: Download the tool

Download the tool from the releases page. You may need to prod your browser into letting you download it.

Step 2: Close Steam

Close Steam. Really. This will mess around with Steam's files.

Note that this does not mean clicking the X in the top-right of Steam. You need to find the Steam icon in the system tray, typically in the bottom-right of Windows. Right-click that icon and select Exit.

Step 3: Run the tool

Find the tool in Windows Explorer. Right-click and "run as administrator." This is only needed if you have Steam installed in a Program Files directory.

Windows SmartScreen will probably not like the tool. Click "more info" and then "run anyway" to get the tool started.

Step 4: Create a new Steam library

When the tool opens, you'll see the location of Steam and any Steam libraries you already have set up. To create a new library, click the "Add Row" button. Note that you can add multiple libraries at once by adding multiple rows. You can also delete these new rows if you change your mind.

You can either type in the new location or your can click "Browse..." to get a handy dialog.

Once everything is set up to you liking, click "Accept". If needed, the tool will ask you if you want it to create new directories. If you say no, the tool will reject all your changes!

If the tool is successful, it'll let you know and then quit.

Step 5: Start Steam

Fire Steam up and verify the new Steam library is working. Go to Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders. Your new Steam library should be present.
