#What is Rack Mesa? Rack Mesa is an enterprise-grade private network being built by students. It's planned to be setup using industry standard hardware, software, and techniques.

#Why are we doing it? LUG attempts to provide educational value and project-based experience to its members. In all stages and aspects, Rack Mesa is designed to give real-life experience and increase the knowledge of those building it.

#How we're doing it What we're building, how we're building it, and how we support it align with our mission and budget while following best practices. LUG uses thorough documentation and cross-training to ensure the effectiveness of our successors. Currently, all of our equipment has been donated to us or bought by members, so we have to be frugal and flexible with our resources. Lastly, anything we implement is subject to "what, why, how." "What" is both the high-level overview and detailed specification of each technology. "Why" is detailed and situation-specific reasoning about how it contributes to the overall architecture. "How" is the exact implementation, configuration, and/or set of techniques that achieves the functionality of the system. Specific technologies should also contain a section explaining the intended consumer and one listing alternatives.
