The Cell Editor - Lincoln-Cybernetics/Cellular-Explorer GitHub Wiki
The Cell Editor window can be accessed from the "Windows" menu in the Master Control Panel.
Controls:
The "Cell Editing Mode" button: puts Cellular Explorer into the Cell Editing mode. The automaton will pause if it is running, and the display will show all cells color-coded by type. (see the Display Modes page) In Cell Editing mode, the cell draw and fill tools are available to change the cells in the automaton.
The "Cell Draw" button: sets the mouse action to cell drawing. Drawing can occur anywhere in the
automaton unless a selection has been made(see Selection Tools), in which case drawing may only occur
within the selection. Left-clicking draws in the primary cell selection, and right-clicking draws in
the secondary cell selection, if the "Cell" tool is chosen. (See Cell Picker)
The Cell Drawing tool selector can be used to select how to alter the cells by drawing.
The "Cell" tool is selected by default and will behave as described above.
The "Direction" tool allows you to change the Direction parameter of cells that have one. Select
direction to draw with the slider below the tool selector, and draw with the mouse.
The "Maturity" tool changes the Maturity setting (time between new states being calculated), of
cells that have a Maturity setting. Select the setting with the slider below the tool
selector, and draw with the mouse.
The "Ages" tool sets whether or not cells that have the ageing option age or not. Use the slider
below the tool selector to select whether you wish to turn ageing on(true) or off(false), then
draw with the mouse.
The "Fade Rule" tool sets whether or not cells that can have the fade rule fade out or not. Use the
slider below the tool selector to select whether you wish to turn fading on(true) or off(false),
then draw with the mouse.
The "Fade" tool changes the fade setting (maximum number of generations active before fading out) of
cells that have one. Select the setting with the slider below the tool
selector, and draw with the mouse.
The "Neighborhood Expansion" tool changes the Neighborhood expansion factor (the distance between a
cell and its neighbors), of cells that have one. Select the setting with the slider below the
tool selector, and draw with the mouse.
The Check Option: This option applies the primary cell selection and the secondary cell selection(see the Cell Picker) to alternating cells, like a checker-board. This option can be used with any of the above tools to apply the tool to every other cell, leaving the skipped-over cells unaffected.
The Random Option: is used to draw in randomly-generated cells, or to assign random values to the parameters and options affected by the other tools.
The "Fill" button Fills all cells with the selected cell type(s), or with the appropriate option/ parameter, unless a selection has been made(see Selection Tools), in which case it fills only the selected cells.
The "Border" button fills all cells around the outer edge of the automaton with the selected cell type(s), or with the appropriate option/parameter, unless a selection has been made(see Selection Tools), in which case it fills only the selected cells.
The "Fill", and "Border" buttons have the same tools and options as above, only they apply to filling the appropriate regions, instead of to drawn areas.
