datum - LeFreq/Singularity GitHub Wiki

Untyped, binary data is the two extremes of color: white and black. If you don't look down to the bit level, you could return a shade of gray. But all data should have a type (categorized) and this means a color schema. Numbers and text by themselves are not a sufficient categorization for identification and color. They are analogous to space and time in physics: too general to be categorized. So beyond the standard type theory, a datum gets classified further with origin data, date of creation, giving it a concrete location in space and time. This is then ready for ontology.
