Rule of Four - LeFreq/Singularity GitHub Wiki

The Rule of Four (+1 AND -1) states that the universe tends to organize things in groups of four (+/- 1 depending on whether you're going "meta" or "drilling downwards" to create the next level of order):

  • four limbs + a head,
  • four math operators + an equal, - the individual unit 1
  • four elements of alchemy + the Tree of Life - quantum sea/graph
  • four genetic codons + (. what's the helix made of?), - atomic units.
  • four RISC op-codes
  • four cardinal points, + up, -down
  • four parts of the wyin/yang, + the circle and - the color
It happens to help when thinking about abstract, systems-level concepts. Because you can then apply this rule in a fractal fashion to scale upwards or downwards, indefinitely.
