Representation means presenting data in a new way to your senses, so that your immense faculties for processing data get used to help understand what the computer is doing. It could be visualizations, audio synthesis, or other senses.

Visual processing exploits the massive power of the human brain and visual cortex to process huge amounts of data at once, approx 1Billion bits/sec. It is one of the (four) ways the general-purpose computer gets used. In contrast to other uses, this quadrant outputs its result not as a numeric or object output, but purely by visualization -- the pixels.

This project uses it to re-present the data space in a 3d visual space (actually more than that as we use color and shape as at least two extra dimensions). Audio could also be considered.
