Map info panel - Lailloken/Exile-UI-Legacy GitHub Wiki

Feature Overview

  • streamlined presentation of map information for quicker scanning and better overview

  • map mods can be individually customized or hidden

  • the panel can be hotkey-toggled to quickly re-check map-mods while mapping

  • optional: re-rolling maps by shift-clicking chaos orbs will automatically refresh the tooltip

User Interface & Settings

  • main UI-elements:

    • map-info tooltip: accessed via omni-clicking (default: middle mouse) a map

    • map-info panel: accessed via double-tapping and holding down ALT

  • this feature has its own section in the settings menu, with UI and customization options

Setup

  • navigate to the map-info section in the settings menu and enable the feature

  • the text-size can be modified by clicking the "-", "R", or "+" buttons

    • clicking the buttons will show the map-info tooltip above the cursor with the current size-settings

    • change the size until it meets your preferences, then press ESC to close it

  • font-colors can also be changed from here

    • copy an RGB-hexcode into the clipboard, then click one of the five buttons to apply it to that text-type

General Use

  • omni-clicking a map will show the map-info tooltip above the cursor

  • the individual map-mods can be highlighted with different colors

    • hold left-click on a mod, then press keys 1-4 to apply the corresponding color set up in the settings menu

    • it's up to the user to decide how many colors to use, i.e. it's not necessary to use all 4

    • right-click a mod to strike it out and ignore it (if it doesn't affect your current build)

  • pressing ESC will close the tooltip

  • from now on, double-tapping ALT and holding it will show the map-info panel on the right side of the screen

    • mods that have been ignored will no longer be shown

    • the panel is no longer clickable, which also means the mods' highlighting cannot be modified

Tooltip/Panel Structure

  • the map-mods will be grouped according to their effect

    • currently implemented groups: player, monsters, bosses, area, heist
  • the mods will be ordered by descending difficulty/rank (4 -> 1, the keys pressed to apply highlighting)

    • ignored mods will always be listed at the bottom of each group, and they will also be ordered by descending difficulty/rank
  • the bottom of the tooltip/panel shows a summary of a map's mod-count, quantity, rarity, and pack-size, as well as a color spectrum to represent overall difficulty
    image

    • this can be used while re-rolling maps in order to determine a map's "juice" and difficulty at a glance
  • the color spectrum differs slightly between tooltip and panel mode

    • in panel mode, the spectrum will only represent mods that are on display (i.e. not ignored)

    • in tooltip mode, the spectrum will exclude ignored difficulty/rank 1 and 2 mods but still show ignored 3 and 4 mods with additional highlighting
      image

    • this difference ensures that potential "brick" mods are not overlooked while re-rolling maps after switching builds and not having adapted the highlighting yet

  • changes to ordering and the color spectrum will take effect the next time the map-info is refreshed (either by omni-clicking the map again or by double-tapping ALT)

Remarks

  • this is inspired by a community mockup that had been posted in the past and was brought up again shortly before the launch of sentinel

  • I also don't like how the in-game panel sometimes blocks a significant part of the screen, and how it can't be toggled more quickly/easily

  • I sometimes want to re-check the boss-mods when approaching the arena after a long/tedious map-layout
