(Old) Missiles - LSFN/Design GitHub Wiki

=Description= Missiles are launched from the ship with targeting information, fuel and a warhead. Missiles will follow the provided targeting information and accelerate towards whatever target they have been provided with, burning up fuel in the process. A missile's purpose in life is to deliver its payload. Compared to the projectiles from Guns they are slow. They are also prone to interception by ship countermeasures. To compensate for all it's flaws, the missile's warhead will pack substantial punch. Missiles will come in a range of sizes; small missiles will be hard to intercept but weaker in terms of damage whereas large missiles will be easier to intercept but will pack significant fire-power. Not all missiles have homing mechanisms, some are simply a rocket-motor strapped to a stick of dynamite with an impact detonator.

=Warheads= Warheads are the usual payload of the missile. These detonate on impact with another entity. These vary in terms of damage, mass and cost and will come in a variety of types.

==Suggested Types==

  • Chemical Explosive (e.g. TNT, C4, Torpex, etc.)
  • EMP
  • Fission
  • Fusion
  • Anti-Matter

=Alternative Payloads= These perform a function other than detonating on impact.

==Suggestions==

  • Chemical Agent: tries to penetrate the hull and inject some chemical compound into the ship ** Nerve gas
  • Tracker: attaches to the ship's hull so it can be tracked when out of radar range.
  • Something that prevents the enemy ship from jumping. Artificial gravity field perhaps?
