Welcome to Liberty Station 13

Hello and welcome to Liberty Station 13, a modified /tg/station server for Space Station 13 hosted by LLA Don Zombie.

You (for the most part) play as an employee aboard a Space Station orbiting a near by gas giant. Depending on your job you will have different duties. For example the duties for the "Cargo Technician" Is to distribute supplies to the departments that ordered them, collect empty crates, load, unload the supply shuttle.

However, At the start of the shift. Enemy communication will be intercepted and the security alert system will change to code blue. All this meaning there is some sort of threat to the station, it's people, and you and something you should watch out for.

Enjoy your stay!

After reading these. check out the Beginners Exercises for "tutorials" on basic controls and interactions. Also you should probably check over the Rules so you know how our server is rulewise.

Joining the game

To get into Liberty Station you need to make an account on http://www.byond.com/ and download the byond client BYOND(build your own net dream) is the engine that Liberty Station (Space Station 13) runs on. once you are all setup with the client you can join via the space station 13 hub http://www.byond.com/games/Exadv1/SpaceStation13 search for liberty station or this direct IP: byond://192.223.27.126:52600 ![] (http://i.imgur.com/Oq6UM3I.jpg) ![] (http://i.imgur.com/7dlL1z0.jpg)

Character Setup

Before we start playing it is probably a good idea to create your first space man. when you first boot up LS13 you will see a menu for joining the game. Before you jump in, click Setup Character.

Setting up Job Preferences

In the job selection window of your character setup you can select how much you would like to play as a job. There are four levels of priority:

High
Medium
Low
Never

As well as a additional option of Be an Assistant if preference unavailable OR Get random job if preferences unavailable. You should set this to Be assistant because random job could throw you in something hard like Captain For your first round you should set Assistant to "Yes" so you can get your space legs going. Once that's all set go ahead and click Join Game or Declare Ready and prepare for your first round.

Controls and Interaction

It's probably important to know how to move around and interact with things. The game uses a point-and-click system. You select which hand you wish to use with the hand buttons and by clicking on the item you wish to interact with. Here are some BASIC controls Move with arrow keys, interact with things with Left mouse button, and right mouse button to bring up the context menu for items/objects/anything.

Ctrl + Click to pull things/people. A pull is different from a grab, grabs are slower as where pulls are used to move things around Shift + Click to examine things, try shift clicking people you see or objects you don't know about

As for speaking with people: -type say ";Hello" to speak over the radio (in character) -type say "#h Hello" or ":h Hello" to speak over your department radio (in character), if you have one. Examine the radio to find specific letters for your department. (Right click > Examine or Shift+Click)

Whats Next?

  • Check out these Rules. before i started shoving these in your face i wanted you to understand the basic controls but since that is out of the way its important to get situated on the rules. they are rather small and to the point
  • Explore the station, keep your mouse cursor over doors and check your lower left bar for the room's name. Check the map and get used to the layout, the station is really not as big as it first seems.
  • Talk to people, ask them what they're doing and if you could be of any assistance. The bar is an excellent place to find bored people who have nothing else to do but socialize.
  • Go get a rookie-version of some job, (Civil duty jobs are mostly easy) and join a department mid-shift. Most of these jobs give you no pressure if you join mid-shift. Walk to the Head of Personnel (HoP)'s desk (if there's no one at the desk you can tablet message the HoP asking him/her to come over as soon as possible) and ask the HoP a job recommendation or you can recommend a job idea of your own (e.g. Pianist, Space Hobo, Waiter, Test Subject, Boxer)!
  • Most rounds end with a shuttle call, the Escape Shuttle will arrive to the Escape Shuttle Hallway, which you can find easily if you follow the panicking people, blood trails and hallways leading east. Get on board the shuttle, buckle yourself to a chair and enjoy the ride! When you arrive to CentCom, the round ends and another one starts soon after, such is the circle of life in Space Station 13.
