Altera provides good support for JTAG-based interfaces. As result, LEAP supports most Altera platforms and chips using a basic JTAG driver. This driver makes use of the USB programming cable to provide a basic, low-performance physical channel.

A general description of setting up Altera boards can be found here. These instructions are sufficient to get the basic JTAG driver operational.
