PGR Milestones - LCAS/pgr_system GitHub Wiki
Milestones are check-points within a student's journey, such as "Confirmation of Study", "Annual Monitoring", or "Thesis Submission". They are associated with specific documentation required in-line with an institution's regulations and hence require the student to submit documentation and have it approved by the respective bodies/panels.
In the PGR system, different types of milestones can be defined by the administrators, being either compulsory milestones that form part of a programmes regulations or optional milestones (such as "change of supervisory team", etc). Compulsory milestones usually form part of a Timeline Template which can be used to instantiate a student's timeline with all required milestones at the time of enrolment.
Milestones are submitted by students or by admins on behalf of students. They are then either rejected
or approved
by an admin, according to the decision of the respective institutional body/panel. Notifications are sent when a submission to a milestone is made or the status of a milestone changes. Reminder Notifications are furthermore sent to students and supervisors to remind them of upcoming and now due milestones (See user roles for details about the users' specific notifications).
