Software TNC using Dire Wolf - LBCC-SpaceClub/HAB-Summer-2015 GitHub Wiki

A software TNC listens to audio from a radio source, and interprets the audio as a digital signal. This is a very cost-effective way of doing things, because you don't need to purchase or build a hardware TNC. All you need is a PC with an audio jack, some processing power, and a radio.

We decided to go with a github project called Dire Wolf for several reasons:

  1. It's open source, and we could contribute any bug fixes or improvements we make.

  2. It's being maintained and updated. Some other software TNC's appear to be abandoned, not so with Dire Wolf.

I suggest reading their installation readme for instructions getting set up. The user guide can be found here.
