MOTOR SIZING
Approximate weight of one 10 cm PVC pipe = 60g Approximate weight of six 10 cm PVC pipe = 60g * 6 = 360g Approximate weight of Shaft = 5g Approximate weight of Disc = 75g
Total weight of rotating part, M = 360 + 5 + 75 = 440g ~ 0.450kg
Coefficient of friction, n = 0.25 Coefficient of gravity, g = 9.8m^2/s
Force = n * M * g = 0.25 * 0.450 * 9.8 = 1.1025N
Radius of Disc, r = 100mm = 10cm Torque, T = F * r = 1.1025 * 0.1 = 0.11025Nm = 1.147kgcm Factor of safety, FOS = 1.2
Required torque = T * FOS = 1.147 * 1.2 = 1.37kgcm
Therefore , we require 150 rpm DC motor
