Motor Sizing

The weight of the rotating disk is m=density * volume.

volume=pi * r * r * d=3.14 * 5 * 5 * 2=157.09 cm^3.

Density of the acrylic sheet is 1.185 g/cm^3.

mass =1.185 * 153.09=181.14 g.

Force = mass * acceleration due to gravity.

Force= 0.18114 * 9.8 = 1.775 N.

Torque = Force * radius = 1.775 * 0.05 = 0.08875 Nm = 0.90477 kg cm.

Total torque = Torque * factor of safety. = 0.90477 * 1.5= 1.3571 kg cm.

The motor with rated rpm of 60 is required.
