WT588D is a programmable MCU voice chip. Its purpose is to provide sound samples for sound effects or speech.
- It can play up to 220 different sounds.
- Sampling rate up to 22 kHz.
- 13-bit DAC / 12-bit PWM bit depth.
Sound samples are stored in a user-accessible SPI Interface Flash memory. This memory can vary in capacity. It can range from 2 Mbit up to 32 Mbit.
This type of memory is limited by its read/write cycles, so to extend its life time it is recommended that you only write to it once and then check if its content is still the same in the future in case other software changes its content, if not, rewrite the expected content.
Another option is to replace this memory with an SRAM type memory like the IS62/65WVS2568FBLL or 23AA02M which have unlimited read and write capabilities.
