The Konami 052539 (also known as Konami SCC+) is a 5-voice wavetable sound chip. It has 128 bytes of memory (tables), in which samples (waves) are stored. The samples are played back looped. The speed with which the samples are played, determines the frequency of the tone.
This chip can emulate virtually any waveform from the 8-bit videogame era.
