Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package

This package is required for MO2 and you can download it from Microsoft. Download the x64 version under "Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2022". Direct link if you can't find it.

Install .NET version 8.0

Ensure you have .NET v8.0 installed. Download both the desktop app x64 and the console app x64 versions from Microsoft here: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/8.0/runtime

Steam Configuration

Supersampling

Disable supersampling in Steam/Oculus and in-game. Set the render resolution to 100% (or 1.0 in Oculus) in both global AND game-specific settings in SteamVR. Supersampling is inefficient and can cause performance drops in Skyrim VR.

If global setting is 150 and game specific is 125 you are really doing 125% of 150%, NOT good

Note: If you join the Discord and complain about performance while using more than 100% render resolution, you will be shamed.

Disable the Steam Overlay

The Steam Overlay can sometimes cause issues with Skyrim VR. However, disabling it will prevent you from earning achievements enabled by the engine fixes mod.

To disable the overlay:

Right-click the game in your Library and select Properties. Go to the General tab. Uncheck the "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game" checkbox. Disabling the overlay means no achievements.

Set the Game Language to English

Wabbajack will fail unless SkyrimVR is installed in English

To set the language:

Open Steam Properties for Skyrim VR, go to Language tab, and select English.

Clean Skyrim

Skip this step if you haven't installed Skyrim VR yet.

1. Open Steam, right-click "Skyrim VR", select Properties > Local Files > Browse.

2. Uninstall the game.

3. Delete all files related to Skyrim.

4. Open Windows Search, paste %LOCALAPPDATA%, and delete the Skyrim VR folder.
   

5. Delete SkyrimVR folder in Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games.

Install Skyrim

Make sure Skyrim is uninstalled through Steam. If not, follow the cleaning steps above.

Install Skyrim VR to a new Steam library folder (e.g., C:\SteamLibrary). DO NOT use common folders like Desktop, Downloads, or Program Files(including x86).

If needed:

• Follow this guide on how to create a Steam Library folder elsewhere.

• If you only have one drive and Steam doesn’t allow a second library on C:, use this tool to add library folders.

You don’t need to set the new folder as the default location. Simply having a new location is enough.

When installing Skyrim VR, select the newly created folder from the drop-down menu.

Start Skyrim

Start the game and exit once you're in the main menu. This ensures that tools in Mod Organizer, included with FUS, can find the Skyrim VR folder.

Install Wabbajack

Download the latest release of Wabbajack from here and place the Wabbajack.exe file in a working folder. Do not use common folders like Desktop, Downloads, or Program Files. It's best to create a Wabbajack folder near the root level of your drive, like C:\Wabbajack. Then run the executable. Windows may show a warning; click "more information" and then "run anyway" as Wabbajack is a trusted open-source project.
