Overview
In voltage clamp experiments, we clamp the neuron at a particular voltage and measure the resulting current changes that are required to keep the cell at that voltage.
Example experiments include measuring EPSCs and IPSCs with either electric stimulation or optogenetic stimulation.
In this example, lateral habenula neurons were patched onto while blue light was flashed to cause the ventral pallidal terminals to fire via channelrhodopsin. The resulting change in the current needed to maintain the voltage clamp (-70mV) is illustrated, using a paired-pulse ratio protocol.
