Retro-Cre

Retro-Cre viruses (e.g., AAV2-retro-Cre, CAV2-Cre) enable projection-specific targeting by delivering Cre to neurons that project into the injection site. When paired with Cre-dependent constructs (like DIO-GCaMP or DIO-Caspase), only connected neurons express the gene.

Useful for mapping and manipulating defined circuits.
