Using NanoZ to test impedance of home-made probes

  1. Plug in NanoZ and launch software.
  2. For Flex-boards, select “Kravitz” as Adaptor and nothing as the probe. For info on these mapping see user manual here: https://white-matter.com/nanoZUserManual.pdf

  1. Looking at the side of the NanoZ with the logo on it, plug flex probe onto right-most side or NanoZ connector:

  1. With the probe out of saline, click “Test probe”. As there is air between ground and each pin, you should see very high numbers here >5mOhm. Example of output in air:

  1. Now dip the probe and ground wire in saline and re-do test. The impedance values should go down! A value between 0.5 to 1mOhm is desired for single units. LFPs can be higher impedance:
