To localize electrodes from in vivo recording experiments we need to make electrolytic lesions at the recording sites. For a 16 channel probe you can lesion all 16 wires, for a 32 channel probe it's OK to lesion half of the wires.
Set the Lesion Making Device as follows:
Overdose the mouse with isofluorane, Clip the negative terminal to the mouse tail and hold the small pin into each electrode on the Omnetics connector on the mouse that you want to lesion. Push the red button to perform each lesion.
When you are done, perfuse the mouse and process the brain for histology. When you cut the brain you should see the lesions. If you have fluorescent proteins you may see a circular absence of fluorescence where the protein was denatured/cooked:
