2024 Rules - Kraggle09/dnd-datapack GitHub Wiki
Recently (well, not actually that recently), the 2024 Player's Handbook has come out, and after looking through it, I've decided to ignore it for the time being. This is due to several reasons:
Less Variation
The new 2024 rules put less of a focus on Species (previously called Races), and more of a focus on Classes. This is great for the actual TTRPG, but not so great for my datapack, which (as of right now) only uses data from Species. By using the older rules, I get to have more variation with Species.
Retcons
The new 2024 rules also change a few things relating to the stats of Species, including making them more uniform (and hence even less variation). Things like speed and size are less varied now, which I find limits this datapack, and the potential gameplay strategies that can come of it.
Caring
Honestly, I don't care enough to re-define how I convert things. I already have a well-made cheat-sheet for converting, and remaking that would be a pain.
Because of these reasons, I will be sticking to the 5e rules (at least for the time being). I will need to guesstimate a few things (i.e. speed for Deep Gnomes is technically 30 ft, but I'm doing 25 ft for greater consistency with 2014 rules), but generally this will make things better for this datapack.
