Project development - Kosudo/nextSIS GitHub Wiki
We originally estimated that it would take around 12 months to bring nextSIS to a usable first version, which sets a release date of August 2013. The immediate for version 1 is to produce a solidly-designed core around which new modules can be built by people who require them. It can't be everything to everyone and we aren't going to try. Once the detailed design is written up, we want to stick to that design unless it proves unworkable.
###Current outline project plan
- August - September 2012: Project creation (website, community building, technology research selection)
- September - October: Conceptual prototyping, outline design, data model design
- November - January 2013: Detailed design, Admissions module
- January - June: Core and module development
- June - August: Testing, feedback and bug-fixing
###Wiki documentation evolution
- Outline design (a broad description of the system's functionality)
- Detailed design (a functional specification of the system's operation)
- Technical documentation (intended to support future development)
In other words, it will progressively become more detailed as the project develops.
