Default Screen Layout

Header

The header background colour is currently white and by default (see reason below) and the areas is used to display three items:

1. A logo
2. The school name
3. The application description, e.g. "Student Information System"

Logo

The default logo is the 90x90 pixel square 'nextSIS' image, but the user can choose their own logo to display here with the stipulation that it should be 90 pixels in height and up to 400 pixels in width. Because the user may upload their own school logo, white was chosen as the default colour in order to support the widest variety of potential images cleanly.

There are two options

School Name

The school name is stored in the configuration table of the database as 'orgname'.

Application Description

This displays "Student Information System" or local language equivalent.

Configuration

It is envisaged that generally the header can be configured in one of two ways:

1. A logo-only approach is used where the School Name and Application Description text is displayed to the right of the logo.
2. A wide-logo incorporating a school's logo and title as a complete image. This would generally not support the provision of text to the right.

To support the latter case, the text descriptions can be turned off in the database.
