Atlas Of Drowned Towns Portal User Manual

The Atlas Portal is used to add, edit, and arrange the data that appears on the Atlas Web Site. Administrators can use it to upload files, create assets, add metadata tags to assets, control how data appears on the web site, and generate new data to be displayed on the web site.

How to Access:

Administrators access the portal via the following URL address: http://dev-atlas-portal.s3-website-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/pages/sheet

Administrators log in using their existing Boise State credentials.

Portal Pages:

The Atlas Portal has three pages for managing data:

  • Sheet - a spread sheet like interface that allows administrators to quickly search on asset tags and find a list of assets that can be edited directly.
  • AssetPage - a page for creating individual assets, modifying the individual properties of assets, and attaching files and URLs to an asset record.
  • Explorer - a file browser for uploading, organizing, and previewing files.

  • Use the Sheet page to browse the Atlas Collection in tabular format.
  • You can type in strings in the boxes at the top of the spreadsheet to filter the displayed items.
  • You can also use the Single Keyword Search box to search by a single keyword across all assets and tags.
  • Click on a row to be taken to the AssetPage for that particular asset.

Asset Page

The Asset Page allows you to edit tags associated with assets in the collection. You can also add new asset items to the collection through this page by clicking on the Add button in the header.

  • Use the Select Asset button to see a list of all asset records. You can filter the list using the search box at the top of the dropdown.
  • The Save Changes button saves any modifications you have made to the current asset.

There are five panels on the Asset Page:

  • The Information Tags panel shows the required tags for the currently viewed asset.
  • The Site Control Tags panel shows the tags used to control where an item is displayed on the map and what locales it is associated with.
  • The Attached Files Panel allows the administrator to attach files to the specific asset. Certain document types required attached files to be displaye properly on the Map and Archive.
  • Development Tags is a failsafe panel that lists all tags recorded with an asset.

Always Remember to click the Save Changes button after you have made changes to an asset. You should wait until you see the progress bar move completely across the top of the page before doing further edits. This can be slow.

File Explorer

The File Explorer page is a browser page that allows you to upload files into the collection and organize those files into folders. It supports all standard file management actions.
