Installing Blender

Blender runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Step 1 — Download

Visit blender.org/download. Select the version for your operating system.

Step 2 — Install

Windows

1. Download the .msi installer.
2. Double-click to run it.
3. Follow the setup wizard to complete the installation.

Alternatively, you can use the ZIP portable version to run Blender without installation.

macOS

1. Download the .dmg file.
2. Drag Blender into the Applications folder.

Linux

Use your package manager or download the .tar.xz archive:

tar -xf blender-x.y.z-linux-x64.tar.xz
cd blender-x.y.z
./blender

Step 3 — Launch Blender

Start Blender and confirm it opens the default startup scene (a cube, camera, and light).

For automatic updates got to > Preferences > System > Check for Updates.
