My interest is rooted in helping poor people be less poor (see raison d'agir). Technology helps build platforms - see why-you-should-build-platforms-to-help-people. It is not good or bad - it is powerful. If someone has ANY "raison d'agir", then technology should be interesting, as it allows us to act better. Faster, more efficiently, more effectively, more democratically, in a more focused manner, and with more memes.

There are many mechanisms through which this is done, but I find Data to be the most interesting right now.
