The Paradox of Empowerment - KeynesYouDigIt/Knowledge GitHub Wiki
"Poverty is not just a lack of money; it is not having the capability to realize one's full potential as a human being" - Amartya Sen. Ergo, all poverty alleviation is empowerment, of some form or another. At some point though, in the acquisition of wealth, knowledge, or other empowering tools, does the acquisition itself become a goal? When we empower people, what are we empowering them for? to go get more empowerment?
For example: suppose I teach a poor child to code. They can code and build software, in many cases, to acquire money through some channel or another. The only break out of this is the joy of creation for creations sake. Which the child may participate in, but which is ephemeral, and must be something like a form of art, if it is not connected to some further form of empowerment. right?
