ARP-2600

A modular synth that was designed to compete with the MOOG modular. Its modules were fixed, but you could change how they were wired internally. It was used as the voice of R2D2. Good for weird textures and effects, not as good for "normal" sounds. Kind of gnarly sounding, good for arpeggios.

Features

  • All the parameters of the original ARP 2600:
    • 3 voltage-controlled oscillators
    • Osc2->Osc1 synchronization
    • 24 dB/octave low pass resonant filter with self-oscillation
    • 1 LFO (can be synchronized to the host sequencer’s tempo)
    • 1 sample and hold, 1 ring modulator, 1 noise generator
    • 1 ADSR & 1 AR envelope follower
  • ARP2500 multimode 12 dB/octave filter with LP, HP, BP and Notch settings
  • Original ARP Sequencer model 1601
  • 4 exclusive tracking generators with real-time interactive LFO creation ability
  • Voltage processors can be used as inverters, mixers or lag processors
  • Onboard effects: chorus, MIDI-syncable stereo delay, reverb
  • Polyphony from 2 to 32 voices with Unison options

Minimoog

Monophonic. Crunchy, good for basslines and leads, good for video game music. Common in 70's funk, disco, G-funk.

Wurlitzer

Electric piano. Similar to a Rhodes, but with a slightly harsher, narrower, barky sound. Rhodes is more bell-like.

CS80

Polyphonic, good for pads. It was similar to the Prophet, but was touch-sensitive and had a ribbon controller. It has multiple "voices", which are selected with the big colored buttons on the front (hover to see the names). It was designed for performance. You increase the values on the sliders by pulling the knobs toward you.

Jupiter-8

Polyphonic subtractive synth. Allowed you to assign patches to 2 different zones of the keyboard. Used on "Thriller", "Ghostbusters", and by Duran Duran. Very "fat." Versatile.

Matrix 12

Pads and basses. Polyphonic. Lots of modulation possibilities. Velocity and aftertouch.

Oberheim SEM

Keyboardless synth model. 2 oscillators, voltage-controlled. Good for basses, electronica.

Prophet

Programmable. "While the Prophet 5 was known for its 2 oscillator analog warmth, the Prophet VS used four digital wave table oscillators giving a crystal and clear sound. We have recreated both of these classic machines to give them the detail heard in the originals. The Prophet V's combined personality of analog warmth and thickness blended with the hard edge digital sound of the VS make it perfect for the throwback 80's sound or the modern techno chord stabs."

Solina

Polyphonic, built-in chorus. It emulates an orchestra. The sounds it incorporates are violin, viola, trumpet, horn, cello, and contrabass.

Vox Continental.

Drawbar organ. Similar to a B3 or an Nord Electro.
