This page shows a simple GDML Assembly test — a FreeCAD document containing multiple solids grouped under an Assembly Part (no containing solid), and the resulting GDML export.
An Assembly in GDML terms is a container with two or more solids but no enclosing solid of its own. Each solid inside carries its own material. See Anatomy of a GDML Workbench Document for a full explanation.
