NEED STATEMENT-YOGA AND ECERCISE BOT
A sports foundation in hubli needs artifacts to display the yoga and exercises patterns in their premises.
Introduction to robot:-
A robot is a machine especially one programmable by a computer capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically. A robot can be guided by an external control device, or the control may be embedded within. Robots may be constructed to evoke human form, but most robots are task-performing machines, designed with an emphasis on stark functionality, rather than expressive aesthetics.
Simple robot
As specified by our need statement, the robot required here is a motion-driven yoga bot and the components required to build it are listed in the further document.
Why a robot for display? =>For the display of yoga and exercise poses, Clay models or sticks can be used, Paintings can be displayed showing a 2d view of the pose. BUT, A robot can illustrate yoga postures and can be programmed to demonstrate multiple positions. Different functionalities can be added to it. Like: Playing soothing music Instruct using sound, steps as well as breathing patterns It can be made more interactive, with output selection, personalisation, etc.
Why yoga?
Yoga helps in relieving stress and improves strength, balance and flexibility. Yoga relaxes you, to help you sleep better.
Yogasana
The term yogasana consists of two Sanskrit words: yoga and asana. The translating these terms roughly into English, yoga is an ancient body of knowledge consisting of six branches that collectively cover aspects of the physical body, spirituality, morality and even social relations. The term asana translates to "posture" or "pose." Yogasana, then, is the term for the postures that comprise the branch of yoga that focuses on the physical body. This branch is called hatha yoga.(https://www.thehealthboard.com/what-is-yogasana.htm)
List of components and information
s.no | components used (electrical and mechanical) | Principle | Function | links |
---|---|---|---|---|
1. | Servo motor | produces torque and velocity based on the supplied current and voltage. It works as part of a closed-loop system providing torque and velocity as commanded by a servo controller utilizing a feedback device to close the loop | mainly used on angular or linear position and for specific velocity, and acceleration | (https://www.kollmorgen.com/en-us/blogs/_blog-in-motion/articles/how-servo-motors-work/ https://www.fujielectric.com/products/column/servo/servo_01.html) |
2. | Stepper motor | Stepper motors are so named because each pulse of electricity turns the motor one step. Stepper motors are controlled by a driver, which sends the pulses into the motor causing it to turn. | precise positioning, and repeatability of movement. | 2. https://www.fujielectric.com/products/column/servo/servo_01.html |
3. | Arudino | Arduino is a micro-control. It consists of a physical programmable circuit board (often referred to as a microcontroller) and a piece of software, or IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that runs on your computer as the robot's brain. | It can be programmed to control the way buttons, motors, switches, lights, and other electronic parts work together. | https://blog.miguelgrinberg.com/post/building-an-arduino-robot-part-i-hardware-components |
4. | The Prototyping Board (breadboard) | inside each breadboard are metal clips that catch an electronic component whenever it gets plugged in. These metal clips are arranged in lines that correspond to the rows and columns on the terminal strips so that you can see and control which electronic components are connected. | For easy and organized connections | https://blog.miguelgrinberg.com/post/building-an-arduino-robot-part-i-hardware-components |
5. | Cables | Used to connect different components in the electrical/electronic system | ||
6. | Nuts and bolts | For gripping the materials together | ||
7. | Springs | To carry loads, Control movement |
