Whirlwind
- Level: 7th-level evocation
- Casting Time: 1 action
- Range: 300 feet
- Components: V, S, M (a piece of straw)
- Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
Description: You create a whirlwind centered on a point you can see within range. The whirlwind is a 10-foot radius, 30-foot tall cylinder.
- Effects:
- Area of Effect: The whirlwind affects creatures and objects in its area.
- Strength Saving Throw: Each creature within the whirlwind’s area must make a Strength saving throw.
- On a failed save, the creature takes 10d6 bludgeoning damage and is flung 30 feet away from the whirlwind in a random direction.
- If a thrown target strikes an object, such as a wall or floor, the target takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage for every 10 feet it was thrown.
- If the target is thrown at another creature, that creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take the same damage and be knocked prone.
- On a successful save, the creature takes half the bludgeoning damage and isn’t flung away.
- Object Interaction: The whirlwind can also pick up unsecured objects that are not being worn or carried and that weigh no more than 200 pounds.
- These objects are similarly flung 30 feet away in a random direction.
- If an object strikes a creature, that creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d6 bludgeoning damage per 10 feet the object was thrown.
Notes:
- The whirlwind moves in a straight line 30 feet in a direction you choose at the start of each of your turns until the spell ends.
- Any creature restrained by the whirlwind moves with it.
- A creature can use its action to make a Strength check against your spell save DC, ending the effect on itself on a success.
