I.T. 🖊️ Tattoos - JulTob/DnD GitHub Wiki
Tattoos have a historical relationship with magic. Brewing from the Shamanic or Runic magic, tattoos carry the symbolic meaning and signs from cultural significance since real-life palaeolithic cultures.
You can integrate them naturally into your roleplay and manifest this symbology by adding a touch of arcane, divine, or natural magic to them. Tattoo artists can be Shamans, that keep the record of the meaning of these tattoos, Witch Doctors that operate scarifications on warriors to give them strength, Traditional Artists that rank your accomplishments for the association as the Yakuza, or priests who ward you with their ancient knowledge for protection from the gods by using runes and ancient symbols. It can be as extraordinary a sail from a pact made with a great entity, marking you as a Warlock, or as ordinary as a mark of a military unit or sailboat.
To attune to this item, you hold the needle to your skin where you want the tattoo to appear, pressing the needle there throughout the attunement process. When the attunement is complete, the needle turns into the ink that becomes the tattoo, which appears on the skin.
If your attunement to the tattoo ends, the tattoo vanishes, and the needle reappears in your space.
Protection. While you aren't wearing armor, the tattoo grants you an Armor Class depending on the tattoo's rarity, as shown below. You can use a shield and still gain this benefit.
Rarity | AC |
---|---|
Uncommon | 12 + your Dexterity modifier |
Rare | 15 + your Dexterity modifier (maximum of +2) |
Very Rare | 18 |
